Friday Morning Reflection
A View from the Balcony Beyond Time
Serving Like Martha, Sitting Like Mary
As Friday morning arrives and the week begins to wind down, many of us are finishing projects, closing out responsibilities, and preparing for the weekend. Life often feels like a constant movement from one task to the next.
In moments like this, I’m reminded of the story of Martha and Mary in Scripture.
📖 Luke 10:38–42
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Martha was busy serving. She was working hard, preparing, organizing, doing all the things that needed to be done. There was nothing wrong with her service.
But Mary chose something different. She sat at the feet of Jesus and listened.
From the balcony beyond time, this story gives us a beautiful perspective about balance in our walk with God.
God calls us to serve, just like Martha. But He also calls us to sit, just like Mary.
Too often we become so busy doing things for God that we forget to spend time with God.
📖 Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
The truth is, our service flows best when it begins at His feet.
When we sit with Christ:
Our hearts are renewed
Our perspective is restored
Our strength is replenished
Our purpose becomes clearer
The weekend ahead may bring activity, family, responsibilities, and opportunities to serve others. But before we rush forward, this Friday morning invites us to pause.
Sit at the feet of Jesus. Open His Word. Listen to His voice.
Because from the Balcony Beyond Time, God sees that the most fruitful lives are not the busiest ones—but the ones that remain closest to Him.
May your weekend be filled with both purposeful service and peaceful presence with Christ.
🙏 Lord, help us serve with willing hands like Martha, but keep our hearts resting at Your feet like Mary.
