Living a Sermon People Can See

A View from the Balcony Beyond Time
There is an old saying that has stayed with me:
“You can preach a better sermon with your life than you can with your lips.”
That thought feels especially meaningful on a Friday, as we look back over the week and ask ourselves a simple but honest question:
What did my life say this week?
Not just my words. Not just what I posted. Not just what I said I believed.
But how did I live?
Did I show patience when things didn’t go my way? Did I offer kindness when someone needed grace? Did I forgive when it would have been easier to stay bitter? Did I reflect Christ in the ordinary moments?
From A View from the Balcony Beyond Time, we are reminded that God sees more than the big moments. He sees the quiet ones too — the small choices, the unseen sacrifices, the gentle responses, the acts of love no one applauds.
Jesus said:
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”— Matthew 5:16
That verse does not say, “Let your light shine so people will praise you. "It says let your life point people back to the Father.
That is the sermon.
A life of humility. A life of compassion. A life of integrity. A life that loves when it is hard. A life that keeps trusting God when the road is uncertain.
The world does not need louder arguments. It needs brighter examples.
People may not always remember every Scripture we quote, but they will remember how we treated them. They will remember whether we listened. Whether we encouraged. Whether we showed up. Whether our faith was something we only talked about — or something we lived.
As we move into the weekend, maybe this is a good time to ask God:
Lord, what message is my life preaching?
Because from the balcony beyond time, our daily choices matter. The way we live becomes part of the testimony God uses to reach others.
This Friday, may we remember that faith is not just spoken — it is seen.
Let your life preach hope. Let your kindness preach grace. Let your patience preach peace. Let your love preach Christ.
Prayer
Lord, help me live a life that reflects You. Let my words be kind, my actions be faithful, and my heart be humble. May others see Your love through the way I live, and may my life point people back to You. Amen.
