"A View from the Balcony Beyond Time"

 Sunday Morning — Pray for Discernment.

Last week in our Bible study, we talked about sowing seeds. Jesus called us to scatter the seed of God's Word wherever we go, trusting Him to bring the harvest. Every conversation, every act of kindness, every word of truth planted in love has the potential to change an eternity.

This week we studied another parable—the Parable of the Weeds (Matthew 13:24–30).

Jesus tells of a farmer who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone slept, an enemy came and secretly planted weeds among the wheat. The weeds looked similar at first, but over time they threatened to choke and corrupt the healthy crop.

As I look at our world today, I can't help but think about this parable.

The enemy is still planting weeds.

Sometimes those weeds are obvious. Other times they are subtle—compromise replacing conviction, opinion replacing Scripture, comfort replacing obedience, and culture being elevated above God's Word.

What saddens me most is not that the world plants weeds. Jesus told us to expect that.

What grieves my heart is when weeds begin to grow within the church itself, and instead of recognizing them, we cultivate them. When we stop measuring everything against God's Word, we risk nurturing what God has called us to remove.

Scripture reminds us:

"Watch out that no one deceives you." — Matthew 24:4

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." — Romans 12:2

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." — Psalm 119:105

The answer is not fear. It is not anger. It is not pointing fingers.

The answer is to return to God's Word.

To love people while refusing to compromise truth.

To sow good seed faithfully.

To pray for discernment.

To let Christ transform our hearts before we try to change the world around us.

From the Balcony Beyond Time, God still sees the whole field. He knows the wheat. He knows the weeds. And He is still calling His people to remain faithful until the harvest.

May we be known as those who plant truth, cultivate love, stand firmly on God's Word, and trust the Lord of the harvest.
